The 2024 St. Marys SummerFest continued with festival goers enjoying classic Midwest fair food, live music, and plenty of carnival-style rides and games for families. The schedule on Friday also featured sidewalk sales for the shops in Downtown St. Marys, along with the ArtFest Juried Art Show and competitive pickleball tournaments. No matter which avenue of fun one partakes, festival organizers say this tradition is beneficial for and loved by the community.
"We're probably 60% of the funding for the Chamber of Commerce here. It got started back in 1983. '85, when it really took off and started making money for them. Since then, it's become a staple," says Kimmer Wale, Chair/Co-Chair of the St. Marys SummerFest.

"As a young kid growing up in town, when it comes to this time of year, I was so excited for SummerFest. I remember, you know, it was one of those love-hate relationships. I love the SummerFest every year, hated it because I knew that school was right around the corner, you know, we got to go back to school. But as a kid, it was like that weekend you like lived for all summer," says Jody Poff, Co-Chair of the St. Marys SummerFest.
SummerFest continues through this Sunday. For a list of events, visit their website.
