LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima Community Aquatic Park opened their gates on Monday.
The Lima Community Aquatic Park has both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and the outdoors debut for the year was on Monday. To celebrate, the park organizers held a lucky duck drop where lifeguards, along with Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith, dropped hundreds of rubber ducks into the pool with numbers attached to each. Whoever had the lucky duck won a free season pass for their family. Many families used the warm Memorial Day to get out in the sun and celebrate the opening of the park. We talked to organizers to hear their day of opening.
"Well, we opened. We came out, we had a bunch of people in, we passed out some coupons this morning for 5 dollars off at the parade, and then we had a duck drop for a free seasonal membership," says Bradley Blanchard, aquatics coordinator for Lima Community Aquatics Park.
