Many parents are getting creative to help their families stay cool during the heat wave! On Tuesday afternoon, we visited the St. Marys Splash Pad where kids were staying cool by having fun with water! As temperatures rose into the 90s for the third day in a row, the kids turned the water on, dashed and leaped through water jets, and even engaged in friendly aquatic combat. At the splash pad, we talked with one little girl about the fun she is having and other ways she is beating the early season heat.
For those trying to escape the heat, a trip to the Wapakoneta WaterPark may be what you need. The Wapakoneta WaterPark has brought the ocean to the park this summer. From giant floatables to ocean-themed vinyl floors, the new additions at the park have gained a lot of attention from local residents of all ages.
The Lima YMCA also ushering summer in by offering low cost swim lessons for kids. The annual "SPLASH Program" is a five-day program teaching kids ages 3 up the basics of swimming and staying safe in water. New swimmers learn important things like how to float, kick their legs, and how to properly wear a life jacket. The kids won't be professionals by the end of the week, but they will be more prepared for the season, and any accidents that may happen.
