January 16, 2025, Press Release from Logan Rex, Bath Head Swim Coach: LIMA, OH — On Saturday, January 18, at 1:00 pm, Bath High School will host the third annual Allen County Cup meet at the Lima Family YMCA. The event brings together top high school swimmers in the area to compete for the prestigious title of “county champion.”
Six schools will participate in this matchup: Bath, Elida, Lima Central Catholic, Perry, Shawnee, and Wapakoneta. “Allen County has some fantastic swimmers and this meet really puts their talents on display,” says Logan Rex, Bath’s head coach. “The meet aims to unite local county teams and provide athletes an opportunity to compete while fostering sportsmanship and celebrating community talent.”
With over 70 athletes competing, the County Cup promises to be a showcase of athleticism and teamwork.
In addition to the competition, the meet will host a special Senior Night celebration. During the intermission, senior swimmers from each school will be recognized for their achievements and contributions to their teams. The tradition highlights the dedication and effort these students have demonstrated throughout their swimming careers.
Warm-ups begin at 12:00 pm and the first event kicks off at 1:00 pm. The meet is expected to conclude at just after 3:30 pm. Tickets are available at the door for $5.00. Spectators of all ages are encouraged to attend. Many of the athletes will meet back at the Lima Family YMCA the following Saturday for the WBL Swim Championship, taking place at this location for the first time in over 15 years.
