ST. MARYS, OH (WLIO) - Many parents are getting creative to help their families stay cool during the heat wave!
On Tuesday afternoon, we visited the St. Marys Splash Pad, where kids were staying cool by having fun with water! As temperatures rose into the 90s for the third day in a row, the kids turned the water on, dashed and leaped through water jets, and even engaged in friendly aquatic combat. At the splash pad, we talked with one little girl about the fun she is having and other ways she is beating the early-season heat.
"You're spinning in the water?" asked Sophia's relative.
"I'm spinning in the water," replied Sophia.
"And jumping in it?" asked Sophia's relative.
"And jumping in it," Sophia responded.
"Is that a good way to stay cool during the hot weather?" I asked.
"Yeah!" said Sophia.
"It is! Are you having a lot of ice cream, too?" I asked Sophia.
Sophia nods her head, yes.
"What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?" I asked Sophia.
"Chocolate," said Sophia.
With more hot weather, Sophia told us that she will return!
