WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) - For those trying to escape the heat, a trip to the Wapakoneta WaterPark may be what you need.
The Wapakoneta WaterPark has brought the ocean to the park this summer. From giant floatables to ocean-themed vinyl floors, the new additions at the park have gained a lot of attention from local residents of all ages.
The ocean-like atmosphere seen from outside the park has elevated this community waterpark into a desirable attraction for those looking to cool down.
"People love it. They walk in and get so excited about the blow-ups and the sand. The turtle at our front desk is like a local celebrity. People are in love with everything. I have lived in Wapakoneta all my life. It's been amazing to see a great turnout we have this year. We are busy almost every day, and it's been amazing to see everyone from little kids to elderly people, it is amazing seeing everyone here," commented Connor Coffey, waterpark employee.
"I will definitely be taking breaks and drinking water. The UV is super high, so sunscreen is always important; which people seem to be forgetting about. Here at the waterpark, we have rest periods every hour just to remind the kids to get out of the water. Because on hot days like this, you're having a great time at the waterpark, and it's just easy to forget to drink water. So, just staying hydrated is really important, keeping sunscreen on, don't get sunburnt, just stay cool as well," said Karson Lighty, assistant manager.
