LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima City Schools staff are preparing for another school year, with a motivational message and a renewed focus on student success.
On Tuesday, motivational speaker Willie Spears provided laughs and encouragement to staff, challenging them to become the teachers who inspired them when they were their students' age.
School officials also challenged staff members in each building to find ways to engage students and improve test scores and performance in a changing education environment.

“There has been a lot of change over the last 24 months, really 12 to 24 months and so people are getting acclimated with new faces, new people, new personalities. But the goal and the mission and the purpose all remain the same and it's to do what's best for kids. So the destination is the same, but the route may be different. So, this is the opportunity where we kind of make sure that everybody understands the route we're taking, where we're headed and that we'll get there together,” said Andre Rudolph, superintendent of Lima City Schools.
Students report back to school Aug. 19.
