Opening statements began Tuesday in the three cases against Daquan Burse. He is charged with possession of a fentanyl-related substance. He is also facing charges in two other cases. One of those cases involves trafficking heroin and the other for a 2019 shooting at a house.

During the initial investigation occupants inside the residence explained that there had been a party and that some individuals had been asked to leave due to their problematic behavior. After leaving, those still inside the residence received text messages warning that something bad might happen. A few moments later a sedan, believed to be the same sedan that those who were asked to leave had been driving, drove by the residence firing rounds into it.

For the second time in two days, the Lima Police are investigating a shots fired into a home call. Officers responded to the 2100 block of Lakewood Avenue around 9:25 p.m. Thursday for reports of shots being fired.  They found a home was struck and they believe the suspect took off towards Spencerville Road.

Dr. Steve Martin, dean of the College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern, says that around 30 to 50 million people are expected to get the flu every year. He recommends to help with those numbers, people 6 months and older should get out and receive the flu shot, especially as this flu season looks like it may be a rough one for some people.

The shooting happened around 11 a.m. Monday on Lincoln Avenue, just north of Faurot Park. According to witnesses and detectives, there was a white Dodge Durango setting in the street outside of a relative's home. One person was outside the SUV talking on a smartphone and the other was inside, when another vehicle drove up and fired multiple shots. Both were hit and drove themselves to the hospital in the SUV.
