We learn more about three Lenten services hosted by St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima!
Megan Scheid, St. Charles Principal adds, “We’ve been working so much on our Catholic Social Teachings with an emphasis on the care of GOD’s creation and how important it is for us to take care of our earth, all of our natural resources and just taking care of our planet. So, not only can we enjoy it here leaving that legacy for our children and our grandchildren moving forward.”
As a Lima native, Father Joseph Cardone visited St. Charles to speak with the Serra Club. He told his story about his calling to priesthood and the mission to keep the values in healthcare. He encouraged the Serrans to vow to religious life but also promote vocations to the priesthood. The father says St. Charles did exactly that for him in his youth.
St. Charles and Lima Central Catholic's 6th annual auction kicked off on Friday. The event will be run virtually, and will end on Saturday, March 27th at 7:30 PM. For St. Charles, proceeds will go towards technology improvements as well as playground updates. For Lima Central Catholic, proceeds will go towards building maintenance and other educational expenses.
Students at St. Charles learned how to be smart when taking care of their heart. Lima Memorial hosted a heart-healthy program on Monday focused on engaging first through fourth graders in ways to be heart healthy. The program was divided into three stations: heart anatomy, CPR training, and finally, a heart-healthy diet. Students got a chance to learn about heart maintenance, disease prevention, and emergency procedures in a fun hands-on learning environment.
Every year the 8th grade class at St. Charles grade school chooses a charity to raise money for. This year all of the students decided to donate the funds to OSU's James Cancer Center in honor of the father of two of their classmates.
St. Charles School continued celebrating their Positive Addiction Week, Tuesday morning, by hosting a few speakers from St. Rita's Medical Center.
