Every year the 8th grade class at St. Charles grade school chooses a charity to raise money for.
This year all of the students decided to donate the funds to OSU's James Cancer Center in honor of the father of two of their classmates. This afternoon the students welcomed the James Center doctor and nurse who treated the student's father. The doctor and nurse used visual aids to explain what happens when someone deals with cancer.  The students presented them with a $500 check they had raised in just a few weeks.Â
"It means a lot. This personally affects my family and to have it all come together so well and for them to be able to make more advancements, it just works really well,"Â said Morgan Chaney, one of the 8th graders at St. Charles.Â
"Service is a really big thing for us. Being able to grow and learn about service and help show our service to that too - that was just a big deal for us," said Lauren Chaney, another 8th grade student at St. Charles.Â
The Chaney family then matched the students donation to make the total of $1,000 donated to the James Cancer Center by the students.Â
