It’s now in their hands to nurture and care for. Students and staff at Saint Charles Elementary School gathering on Friday to commemorate the planting of a Crimson King Maple tree near the school’s playground. The City of Lima’s Urban Forestry Council provided the tree and the school’s administration hopes the students understand the importance of receiving the tree.
Megan Scheid, St. Charles Principal adds, “We’ve been working so much on our Catholic Social Teachings with an emphasis on the care of GOD’s creation and how important it is for us to take care of our Earth, all of our natural resources and just taking care of our planet. So, not only can we enjoy it here leaving that legacy for our children and our grandchildren moving forward.”
The city has teamed up with local schools to promote Arbor Day for the last 16 years to promote the importance of trees in our community.
