The Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency is in the process of relocating one of its offices from rural Auglaize County to the municipal building in St. Marys.
The Glacier Hill Lakes RV Resort and several surrounding houses southeast of Wapakoneta were struck last night. Houses lost entire walls and roofs, while many trailers and RVs were blown at least several feet and flipped over. Residents report that the resort's main office is mostly gone. One woman said that she had been driving to check on family in the area when she watched the funnel cloud drop to the ground.
WEST CENTRAL OH, (WLIO) - Damage and injury reports continue to come in after tornadoes were reported in four counties in our viewing area.
AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Recovery efforts and investigations into the severe weather damage in Auglaize County continued through the weekend.
Auglaize County director of Emergency Management said repairs on the damaged aqueduct are going well. The aqueduct on State Route 66 north of St. Marys was damaged during last week's rain and flooding. Troy Anderson said the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is working with contractors to continue repairs. Last week, they built stone dams on both sides of the aqueduct as well as created a spillway to relieve the water pressure. Anderson said most of the water has drained out. Now they've built a driveway to the structure to build up support and begin repairs.
Substantial rainfall before the weekend caused problems for much of northwest central Ohio. Flooding being one of the biggest issues. Now with more rain on the way this week, the Auglaize County Emergency Management is spreading the national mantra, "turn around don’t drown." They say they will be using social media to the fullest posting updates on road closures and flooded areas and asking people if they see something say something.
Waters continued to rise even after overnight rain stopped in Mercer and Auglaize counties. As the day progressed on Friday, things got worse for both counties, all thanks to overnight rain that caused flooding. An official at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday morning you could say more roads were closed than open. By noon a major roadway was blocked off, route 127, heading south out of Celina.
