AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Auglaize County officials are surveying damage where a tornado of unconfirmed strength touched down to the east of Wapakoneta.
The Glacier Hill Lakes RV Resort and several surrounding houses southeast of Wapakoneta were struck last night. Houses lost entire walls and roofs, while many trailers and RVs were blown at least several feet and flipped over. Residents report that the resort's main office is mostly gone. One woman said that she had been driving to check on family in the area when she watched the funnel cloud drop to the ground. She had to knock on the door of the closest home and shelter with that family in their basement. At this time, there are no reported deaths and 8 injuries, according to WCSM.
So far, we have seen an outpouring of damage from the Mercer-Auglaize County line all the way to the Logan-Auglaize County line. So it's about 22 miles. In Auglaize County, everyone is accounted for. No one was trapped last night. We did have some that were thrown out of campers in the Glacier Hill area; we did have minor injuries there, but nothing we had to do major search and rescue for," stated Michael Vorhees, Auglaize County Sheriff.
Officials are still working with the National Weather Service to determine the strength and number of the tornadoes that touched down in Auglaize County.
