The Community Blood Center is preventing the blood shortage from getting worst during a blood drive Friday at Mercy Health-St Rita's. Blood donation always goes down during the summer season, and following the Fourth of July holiday, the community blood center says the usage for type “O” blood outpaced the collection. They provide blood for St. Rita's and other hospitals in their 17-county region, and they want people to understand the importance of donating this time of year.
Southside Christian Church and First Baptist Church have partnered to present their “Food Truck” vacation bible school. The 5-day event will include Bible stories, music, science projects, crafts, and recreation activities. The children will get a meal each night to go with the food truck theme. Organizers are looking forward to seeing the kids.

Tuesday was National Plan for Vacation Day, happening right around the time that AAA says many people are planning their vacations for the year. One AAA survey found that 59% of Ohioans are considering taking a trip this year, but only a third of those people have actually booked their vacation.
