LIMA — Bath snapped a two-game skid on Friday night, outlasting Columbus Grove 76-68 in overtime in a boys basketball matchup at Bath High School.
Columbus Grove entered the game riding a two-game winning streak and struck early in the first quarter. Josiah Clark answered for Bath with a tough finish to tie the game, but the Bulldogs responded behind senior Landon Best, who laid one in off a bounce pass as part of a 17-point night.
The Bulldogs began to build separation later in the quarter when Trevin Baxter knocked down a three-pointer, then followed it up moments later by getting out in front and throwing down a two-handed slam. Baxter led Columbus Grove with 19 points as the Bulldogs pushed their lead to seven.
Bath continued to chip away, highlighted by Logan Markley gliding to the rim for a key basket as the Wildcats worked their way back into the game. The back-and-forth battle eventually forced overtime, where Bath took control.
The Wildcats closed out the extra session to secure the 76-68 overtime victory at home.
