Columbus Grove baseball breaks tie late with five-run seventh to beat Kalida

KALIDA (WLIO) — Columbus Grove used a big seventh inning to pull away from Kalida for a 7-2 win in Putnam County League play.
The game was tied 2-2 through six innings, with both teams getting strong pitching performances. Brady Basinger struck out the side in the fourth and finished with 12 strikeouts, while Kalida’s Griffin Klausing recorded seven, including three in a perfect fifth inning.
Columbus Grove broke through in the seventh. Basinger delivered a go-ahead single to score Wyatt Fuerst, and Jacob Ricker followed with an RBI hit to bring home Alex Meyer.
The Bulldogs kept the rally going as Carter Flores added a ground ball that plated Gage Sautter and Caleb Ricker, part of a five-run inning.
Columbus Grove rode the late surge to secure the conference victory.
