BATH TOWNSHIP — Elida avenged its regular-season loss to Bath in convincing fashion, earning a 4-1 win in sectional tournament play to move on to the district semifinals.
The Bulldogs struck early when junior Austin Gudakunst converted a penalty kick less than four minutes into the match. Bath quickly responded with a penalty kick of its own, as Peyton Liles buried his shot to tie it at 1-1.
Elida regained control late in the first half when Leyton Staley connected on another penalty kick, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. Cameron Emmons later sealed the match with a powerful strike past the Bath keeper.
Elida now advances to face Bluffton in the district semifinals.
