CONVOY, Ohio (WLIO) — Crestview continued its dominance in the series with Paulding, using a fast start and steady second-half play to secure a 63-51 win over the Panthers on Friday night.
Paulding entered the matchup at 6-2, while Crestview came in at 4-4, but the Knights showed early control. Crestview has now won eight straight meetings against the Panthers.
The Knights came out strong in the first quarter behind Hayden Perrott, who scored 10 points in the opening period. Crestview built an 18-8 lead by the end of the quarter and maintained momentum into the second.
Paulding found some offense in the second quarter after a steal led to a strong finish at the rim by Jalen Manz, but the Panthers still trailed 33-16 at halftime.
Crestview extended its lead in the third quarter as senior Liam Putman scored inside and drew a foul to push the score to 37-20 midway through the period, though he missed the free throw.
Paulding responded with increased energy, highlighted by a defensive stop and transition opportunity from Tyson Manz, who recorded a block and drew a foul on the other end to keep the Panthers within reach.
Crestview answered once again, as Will Sheets found Owen Heckler for a basket to maintain control. The Knights closed out the game to earn the 63-51 victory.
