DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima Central Catholic continued its recent dominance in the annual Holy War rivalry, defeating St. John’s 28-7 on Friday night.
The Thunderbirds have now won seven of the last eight meetings with the Blue Jays.
LCC jumped out to a fast start behind quarterback Brady Parker, who scored on a keeper in the first quarter to put the T-Birds up 7-0.
Parker then handed off to Carter Lester, who added another touchdown to double the lead.
In the second quarter, Eddie White punched in a short rush to extend LCC’s advantage to 21-0.
St. John’s defense finally made a stand before halftime when Riley Mueller intercepted a pass in the end zone to keep the Blue Jays within striking distance.
The Jays struck back in the third quarter when quarterback Christian Young connected with Austin Shafer for a touchdown, trimming the deficit to 21-7.
But LCC sealed the win late in the fourth with Lester’s second touchdown of the night.
With the 28-7 victory, the Thunderbirds improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Blue Jays fall to 0-2.
