MICHIGAN — The Lima Locos' postseason got off to a tough start Tuesday as they fell 8-7 to the Michigan Monarchs in Game 1 of their Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League playoff series.
Originally scheduled for Monday, the series opener was postponed due to weather, pushing the best-of-three matchup back a day.
The Locos held a late lead before surrendering three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, allowing the Monarchs to steal the win at home.
Lima will now look to even the series in Game 2, which shifts to Simmons Field in Lima on Wednesday night.
If necessary, Game 3 will be played immediately following Game 2 as part of a doubleheader to decide which team moves on in the GLSCL playoffs.
