LIMA, OH — After Friday’s game was rained out, the Lima Locos and Grand Lake Mariners played a Saturday doubleheader at Simmons Field. With a chance to lock up the North Division, the Locos came ready — and delivered in dominant fashion.

Game 1: Locos 6, Mariners 1

Lima wasted no time getting on the board. In the second inning, newcomer Marwynn Matthews Jr. grounded out to short, allowing Grant McGuire to score the game’s opening run.

The Locos added insurance in the third. Payton Ebbing came home on an RBI single from Evan Holstein, and shortly after, Julian Jimenez cleared the bases with a two-run triple to make it 4–0. David Falloon added a sacrifice fly to left to cap the scoring, bringing in Jimenez to give Lima a 5–0 lead.

The Mariners managed one run, but the Locos sealed the win, 6–1, to take Game 1.

Game 2: Locos 10, Mariners 0

Game 2 was all Locos from the start. Lima jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the first, then added two more in the second on a two-run double by Grant McGuire.

Starting pitcher Landon Vandegrift gave the Mariners no breathing room. The University of Akron right-hander struck out 10 of the 19 batters he faced and kept Grand Lake off the board in a dominant outing.

Lima tacked on more runs in the bottom of the third, including a bloop RBI single from Payton Ebbing to score Will Briggs. The Locos would go on to win 10–0 in shutout fashion.

Division Champs

With the sweep, the Locos clinched the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League North Division title. Lima will now set its sights on postseason play as they continue their hunt for another GLSCL championship.
