SHAWNEE — The 2025 Lima Junior Golf season came to a close Monday at the Shawnee Country Club, where the top youth golfers in the region battled it out in the Tournament of Champions.
On the girls’ side, Zoey Merritt capped off her junior career in style. The Graham graduate and incoming Ashland freshman sank a par putt on the 18th hole to finish with a round of 76, capturing her third straight Tournament of Champions title.
Jefferson sophomore Brylee Geary finished as runner-up with a 90, followed closely by New Bremen’s Allison Trego, who shot a 92 to place third.
In the boys’ tournament, Crestview senior Mathew Dealey emerged as champion. A steady bogey on the 17th and a clutch par on the 18th sealed a round of 74 and the victory.
Ottoville’s Evan Altenburger took second with a 76 after a solid round that included a well-executed chip from the rough.
A four-way tie for third featured strong performances from Alex Bellman and Davis Maag of Ottawa-Glandorf, Henry Petersen of Lehman Catholic, and Reece LeFevre of Fort Recovery—all carding rounds of 77.
With the season wrapped, the Lima Junior Golf circuit crowns another group of local standouts to watch in the coming years.
