LIMA (WLIO) — Miller City High School used a big second inning to pull away from Holgate High School in an 11-1 mercy-rule victory during Division 7 district semifinal action.

Tied at one in the second inning, Max Long gave the Wildcats the lead with a deep drive to center field that bounced off the wall for a two-run triple.

Moments later, Caleb Reichley added another RBI with a hit to left field as Miller City continued to build momentum. The Wildcats eventually scored five runs in the inning, aided by a throwing error at first base, to take a commanding 6-1 lead.

Miller City kept the offense rolling in the fourth inning, where Tanner Verhoff capped off another multi-run frame as the Wildcats pulled further away.

The Wildcats secured the 11-1 win in five innings and advance to the Division 7 district final Saturday in Findlay against McComb.
