MINSTER, Ohio (WLIO) — Minster Wildcats are moving on in postseason play after a strong showing in their sectional final matchup.
The Wildcats hosted the Temple Christian Pioneers with a district berth on the line.
Temple Christian struck first from long range in the opening quarter. Senior Derek Shultz buried a three-pointer and went on to lead the Pioneers with 18 points.
Nolyn Wright added to the early momentum, knocking down a triple of his own as Temple Christian found success from beyond the arc.
But Minster had the answer.
Taylor Fancher connected from deep to spark the Wildcats, who built a 16-8 lead after one quarter.
In the second, Minster turned up the defensive pressure. Off a turnover, Beckhem Stephey found Cole Albers in transition. The Hillsdale College commit poured in a game-high 31 points, including that easy finish.
Albers later kicked it out to Andrew Ketner, who added 11 points in the win as Minster continued to create separation.
Minster’s strong performance secured its spot in the district semifinals.
The Wildcats will face Upper Scioto Valley next Thursday at Elida.
