OTTOVILLE — Parkway pulled off a major upset Tuesday night, taking down defending state champion Coldwater in a D-VI Northwest 1 District matchup.
The Panthers came out swinging in the first set, led by Brittyn Bruns, who fired a kill down the line to help Parkway jump ahead 8-1. Coldwater fought back, cutting the deficit late in the set behind strong play from Harlow Heyne, but Parkway held on 25-23 after a kill from Naomi Knapke.
Coldwater battled to stay alive but couldn’t overcome Parkway’s momentum. The Panthers went on to win the match in four sets, 3-1, clinching the final set 25-23.
With the victory, Parkway advances to face Tinora on Thursday at Defiance.
