PAULDING, Ohio (WLIO) — The Green Meadows Conference title was on the line, and Paulding made history on its home floor.
The Panthers and Fairview entered the night tied atop the GMC standings at 6-0, but it was Paulding that seized control early. Senior Addison Pease knocked down a three-pointer to spark an 11-2 run. She finished with a team-high 17 points.
Fairview answered. Freshman Brianna Moninger intercepted a pass and converted the hoop and the harm as part of her 12-point effort. In the closing moments of the first quarter, Samantha Coolman came up with a steal and beat the buzzer with a score to give Fairview a 19-17 lead. Coolman also added 12 points.
In the second quarter, Nevaeh Heisler caught fire from beyond the arc. The freshman poured in a game-high 21 points to keep the Apaches in front.
But Paulding stayed persistent. Estie Pease attacked the basket and finished inside on her way to 16 points.
When the final buzzer sounded, Paulding secured a 72-65 victory, earning the program’s first-ever Green Meadows Conference championship.
