Waynesfield, OH (WLIO) — Temple Christian dominated Waynesfield-Goshen in a Northwest Central Conference rematch Friday, pulling away for a 75-39 victory after winning the first meeting in December, 58-44.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early 8-0 run, setting the tone for the night. Derek Shultz led the charge, finishing the first quarter with a team-high 23 points, including a corner three as the period expired.
Temple Christian’s Nolan Wright also impressed, using screens and attacking the rim to score in transition. The junior finished with 16 points, splitting defenders and finishing through contact on several drives.
Waynesfield-Goshen’s Turner Thompson got the Tigers on the board with an inside feed early, while Levi Combs kept the visitors within striking distance with a long two-pointer.
However, the Pioneers’ relentless attack and defensive pressure proved too much.
Temple Christian’s win improves their season record, while Waynesfield-Goshen struggles to keep pace in the rematch.
Final score: Temple Christian 75, Waynesfield-Goshen 39.
