DAYTON — St. Henry advanced to the Division 6 state title match with a 3-1 victory over Independence at the Wright State Nutter Center.
The Redskins and Independence split the first two sets before St. Henry seized control in the third. Addy Homan delivered a net kill to lift St. Henry to an 8-6 lead in the set and later served an ace as the Redskins closed out the third, 25-22.
St. Henry carried the momentum into the fourth set. Senior Karlee Buschur slammed a powerful kill and Mylee Kramer followed with key points as the senior-sophomore tandem pushed the Redskins in front. Kylie Bollenbacher paced the attack with a team-high 16 kills, and Buschur found gaps down the stretch as St. Henry closed the set 25-18.
Lexi Buschur’s serve produced the match-ending point, and St. Henry will meet Newark Catholic in the state final Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Nutter Center.
