WAPAKONETA, Ohio — (WLIO) — Marion Local’s 76-game winning streak came to an end Friday night as St. Henry powered its way to a 24–7 victory in the Division VII regional final, earning the Redskins their first state semifinal berth since 2006.

The matchup at Mercy Health Wapak VFW Field marked a Midwest Athletic Conference rematch of the teams’ Sept. 5 meeting, when Marion Local narrowly escaped with a 21–14 win. This time, St. Henry flipped the script.

The Flyers struck first after recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff. Senior Kamden Eifert capped the short drive with a 13-yard touchdown run to give Marion Local a 7–0 lead.

St. Henry responded immediately. Charlie Werling punched in a three-yard score on the Redskins’ opening possession, cutting the deficit to 7–6 after a missed PAT.

From there, the momentum shifted. Werling intercepted a Marion Local pass early in the second quarter, and the Redskins converted the takeaway into points. Werling kept the ball on a read-option, shedding multiple tacklers on his way to the end zone to put St. Henry ahead 12–7.

Another defensive stand set up another scoring opportunity. Drew Langenkamp grabbed the Redskins’ second interception of the night, and Werling again made the Flyers pay, scoring on a 12-yard keeper to extend the lead to 18–7 at halftime.

St. Henry controlled the second half, with Werling adding his fourth touchdown of the night in the third quarter to seal the win and punch the Redskins’ ticket to the State Final Four.
