OTTAWA — St. Marys leaned on its defense and timely scoring to pick up a 17-3 road win over Ottawa-Glandorf on Friday night in Western Buckeye League play.
The Roughriders carried a 7-3 lead into halftime before breaking the game open in the third quarter. Caleb Schmidt ripped through the Titans’ defense for a long run that was stopped just shy of the goal line. On the very next play, senior quarterback Aiden Meinerding powered in from one yard out to make it 14-3 after the extra point.
In the fourth quarter, kicker Bradey Triplett added insurance with a 43-yard field goal to stretch the lead to two touchdowns.
Ottawa-Glandorf remains winless on the season, while St. Marys climbs back to .500 with the victory.
