OTTOVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) — Landon Stechschulte scored a team-high performance to lead Fort Jennings to a 58–50 non-league victory over Ottoville on Tuesday night in a matchup of Putnam County rivals.
The Musketeers, who have now won three consecutive meetings against Ottoville, took control late after a tightly contested game that featured multiple lead changes.
Joe Leis opened the scoring for Ottoville with a first-quarter 3-pointer to give the Big Green an early 10–4 advantage. Fort Jennings responded behind Calvin Menke, whose reverse layup in the second quarter cut the deficit to one.
The game remained close into the second half, tied at 36, before Stechschulte broke the deadlock with a drive to the basket following a behind-the-back crossover, giving Fort Jennings its first lead of the night.
Ottoville stayed within reach late in the fourth quarter as Ashton Miller scored on a driving layup to pull the Big Green within five, 43–38. However, Stechschulte sealed the outcome with a 3-pointer in the closing moments as Fort Jennings pulled away.
The Musketeers closed out the win to improve their non-league record, while Ottoville fell despite a strong early showing.
