LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Wapakoneta put the finishing touches on a perfect regular season and claimed the Western Buckeye League title outright with a 61–34 win over Bath on Friday night.
The Redskins built a 19-point lead in the second half when quarterback Caleb Moyer launched a deep ball to Ohio commit Kaden Page, setting Wapak up at the 1-yard line. Moyer punched it in moments later to extend the lead to 47–22.
Bath continued to battle. Zach Welsch scored on a 1-yard sneak to cut the deficit to 47–28, and senior running back Mikey Hale later added a 17-yard touchdown run to keep the Wildcats within striking distance.
But Wapak’s offense had too many answers. Moyer broke free for a 24-yard touchdown run late in the third, then connected with Page again for a long score in the fourth to put the game away for good.
With the win, Wapakoneta not only secures the league championship outright but extends its WBL winning streak to 26 straight games.
