LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Police Department is inviting community members to reconnect with officers and share their thoughts during the return of its Coffee With a Cop program later this month.
The initiative is designed to bring residents and police officers together in a casual atmosphere where they can engage in open conversations about issues affecting the city, neighborhoods and the police department. Organizers encourage residents to discuss concerns, ask questions and provide feedback, whether positive, negative or neutral.
Police officials say the program has successfully helped strengthen relationships between officers and community members in the past, creating opportunities for trust and collaboration.
“So, if something does happen where we need to be involved and we all already have a relationship with each other, it makes things go so much smoother. And that's what we're hoping to build. We're hoping to build that community and continue to work together and build partnerships,” said Lima Police Chief Curtis Hile.
Coffee With a Cop will take place Monday, June 29, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Winans Coffee and Chocolates, located at 207 S. Central Ave. As an added incentive, all beverages will be available at 50% off during the event.
Police officials encourage residents to stop by, meet local officers and take part in conversations aimed at strengthening community partnerships and improving communication throughout Lima.
