4th family member sentenced for obstructing justice

The fourth member of the Brooks family was sentenced for her role in hindering a murder investigation.  Judge Reginald Routson sentenced Shannon Brooks to 30 days in the Hancock County Jail for her third degree felony charge of obstructing justice.

Brooks, her husband, brother-in-law, and mother-in-law all pleaded guilty to providing false information in the murder investigation of Vera Jo Reigle.  Changes to sentencing laws in September prevented a much more severe sentence for Brooks.

She will also serve five years probation, and if she does not comply with the terms of her sentence, she could face a 30 month prison sentence.
