VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) - A Michigan man was sentenced to 90 days in jail for a double fatal crash in Van Wert last fall.

Timothy Kiester, 61, of Berrien Springs, Michigan, was sentenced in Van Wert Municipal Court after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor counts of vehicular manslaughter.

According to law enforcement, on Oct. 21, Kiester was pulling a camper with a pickup on U.S. 127 near the Hickory Sticks Golf Course when he failed to stop in time and hit a car driven by Zachary Wood, 30, who was stopped to make a turn. Wood’s car was pushed into the path of a semi, killing him and his passenger, Logan Elder, 29.

The judge also ordered that Kiester’s driver’s license be suspended for two years.
