ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The Allen County EMA received its new command bus this week.

The Allen County EMA received its new command bus this week.
The new command bus was ordered two years ago but has been in the works for quite some time. The bus is deployed when there is an incident where there is a need for a command post that is greater than just a cruiser or fire truck. Their old bus was built in 1994, and they purchased it from Pennsylvania a little under 10 years ago, so it was time for an upgrade.

"There's a lot more usable space inside this command bus. The old one was more or less a hallway with a few places to sit down. This has an area that we can all meet around a table, more conference room style. It's got a lot more usable space by use of the kickout in the back. As well as the exterior monitor, we can share situational awareness with the responders at the scene. Just an overall greater capability that the newer bus brings," said Jared Gesler, Allen County Office of Homeland Security & EMA.

Director Gesler adds they are excited to share this bus with the community at events like National Night Out and at the Allen County Fair.
