LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - If you've got books sitting around collecting dust, why not donate them to a great cause and further someone's education?

The American Association of University Women, also known as AAUW, has begun their collection process for their annual book sale in September. If you've got old books, CDs, puzzles, DVDs and vinyl records, you can donate them to the AAUW at the old Rite Aid on the corner of Elm Street and Eastown Road.

The donations will be used for the book sale in September and the proceeds from the book sale go towards scholarships for Allen County girls.

"Within AAUW, we're really strong on education and strong on like STEM education for girls, we really want to see girls have the opportunity that guys have had for years," said Sue Ann Shaw, AAUW financial officer and book sale co-chair. "We really want to try to get money out there so these girls can go, and books are very important. They're important to education. The community likes to read and the community also likes to get rid of the books they have read, so it's kind of a win win for both. They can bring things in and can turn around and shop later and buy new books."

AAUW will be accepting donations every Tuesday and Thursday through August 21st from 9 am to noon at the old Rite Aid on the corner of Elm Street and Eastown Road.

They also will be open for donations on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8 pm.

The book sale will take place September 2nd through the 6th.
