LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen Economic Development Group hosted a workshop Wednesday to help local employers navigate Ohio’s TechCred program.

The state-funded program reimburses companies when employees complete approved credential training. Those credentials span a range of fields, including business, information technology, manufacturing and logistics.

Local training partners include UNOH, Rhodes State College and Apollo Career Center. Companies of all sizes, including Cenovus and Nutrien, are using the program to upskill their workforces. Organizers said the goal of the workshop was to walk employers through the application process and connect them with training resources.

“As employees get upskilled, that can help improve morale, that can help improve pay, that can help improve a bunch of different things within the facility that they are working at. So that’s what we want to encourage,” said Tim Fitzpatrick, regional workforce development director at AEDG.

Ohio offers six TechCred application periods each year. For more information, click here
