LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities honoring professionals who are making a difference for the people they serve.
On Wednesday, the board recognized 12 Direct Support Professionals, or DSPs at an annual luncheon as part of DSP Recognition Week. DSPs work directly with people with developmental disabilities in their homes, day programs, and in the community.

DSPs work directly with people with developmental disabilities in their homes, day programs, and in the community.
Those with the board say that DSPs put in a lot of time and effort, even on weekends and holidays, and wanted to be sure that they got recognized for their work.
"The County Board of Developmental Disabilities and our provider communities work very closely to support the people that we're serving who have developmental disabilities, and so we're able to see the impact DSPs have and that they can truly change someone's life," said Melissa Ricker, assistant superintendent of the Allen County Board of DD. "We want them to know that we appreciate them."
This year's DSP honorees are Rebekah Crockett, Pam Jones, Leeanna Ridenour, Julie Sturgill, Ireland Fay, Joshua Conley, Tonia Cash, Charles Gillette, Kellie Nester, Dustin Greer, Hannah Youngpeter, and Jessica Oliver.
