LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A local senior living program is giving residents a chance to connect directly with local government.

Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan visited the Primrose Retirement Community this week as part of the community’s weekly “Men’s Donuts Gathering.” Residents had the opportunity to ask questions about county projects, including the new administrative building and other ongoing initiatives.

“Well, he told us a lot of things that I didn’t know, and there’s a lot of things going on that I’m not aware of, because I’m not out in the public like I used to be,” said resident Henry Ivan.

Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan visited the Primrose Retirement Community this week as part of the community’s weekly “Men’s Donuts Gathering.”

Another resident, Jim Stewart, added, “We learned a lot of things that we weren’t aware of. And he’s very interesting. He’s got a lot to say about what’s going on here in Allen County.”

Noonan said the discussions covered topics such as economic development, the county budget, and the new downtown structure.

“We’re talking economic development, we’re talking, you know, county budget, we’re talking the new structure going up downtown, so having those dialogs, but then having the opportunity to really dive deeper into those issues just to afford that opportunity — we welcome it,” Noonan said.

Noonan said he would accept a return invitation to speak at “The Men’s Donuts Gathering” if asked.
