LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Senior students at Apollo Career Center are being rewarded for their hard work as graduation approaches.

More than 100 seniors received scholarships and tools in recognition of their academic achievements as they prepare for post-secondary education or enter the workforce. Scholarships ranged from $500 to $2,000, along with toolkits and medals, thanks to Apollo partners and families who sponsored the awards.

Apollo Principal Nick Sammetinger said the scholarships give students a valuable head start in their careers or education.

“It's very important for all the students to get a little bit of a jump start, whether it's in their careers or if they're going into college, getting a little bit of scholarship funds or tool awards. As you saw, there's some awards that were tools, or $1,000 worth of tools and things like that. It just helps them jump start their careers. And what paths and our goal here at Apollo Career Center is to prepare all students to be next ready for whatever life throws at them. And that's the goal. Is their next step, they're next ready,” said Nick Sammetinger, principal of Apollo Career Center.
