LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Big Lots stores in Lima and Findlay are set to close as part of a nationwide effort by Gordon Brothers Retail Partners to sell the leases of hundreds of locations.
Gordon Brothers announced it is taking over Big Lots following the Columbus-based company’s bankruptcy filing. The firm plans to sell off the leases for 500 Big Lots stores, including 23 locations in Ohio.
There was a possibility that the local Big Lots locations could have been saved, as Gordon Brothers plans to transfer between 200 and 400 stores, along with two warehouses, to North Carolina-based Variety Wholesalers. However, the Lima and Findlay stores were not included in that list.
Variety Wholesalers operates more than 350 Roses Discount Stores, including one on North Cable Road in Lima, as well as numerous other dollar stores across the country.
