LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — For years, The Wheelhouse has been helping break down transportation barriers for residents in and around Lima by providing bicycles to individuals who have no other reliable means of transportation.

The Christian bike cooperative has distributed hundreds of bicycles to community members, helping people get to work, school and essential services. Organizers say the bicycles are about much more than recreation, serving instead as dependable transportation for those in need.

Blessing of the Wheels event highlights Lima bike cooperative’s mission

“To provide bicycles for adults in the community that don't have transportation and also we want to bless those who have bicycles with the blessing of the wheels,” said Tim Heinz, Wheelhouse manager.

The Wheelhouse is inviting the public to learn more about its mission during its upcoming “Blessing of the Wheels” event.

An open house will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, followed by the blessing ceremony at 11 a.m. The event will take place at The Wheelhouse, located at 619 E. Elm St., behind Elm Street Church of the Brethren.
