LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - With Mother’s Day around the corner, Mercy Health hosted “Build a Bouquet with Mom” throughout downtown Lima.

Eighteen businesses participated by offering a unique flower in their shop, along with a small gift for mothers. Families walked through downtown visiting each location while creating a bouquet for their moms. The event not only gave families a chance to celebrate Mother’s Day together but also helped support and highlight local businesses in the community. Organizers said events like this help strengthen connections between community members and downtown businesses.

“Involve downtown in our community, and that’s really what we want to happen,” one organizer said. “As being a board member, as being a community member, a part of Mercy Health and Downtown Lima Inc., and all of our other things we do, we just really want to see our community grow and get involved.”

Residents of all ages shared what makes their mothers special.

“She’s always been there, and as a mom myself now, she’s really shaped how I parent and how I want to be a mom for my own daughter,” said Kyra Cobb.

“She loves us. Even when we’re hate-able, even in our darkest moments, she always cares,” said Thomas Mitchell.

“She gives me a roof, a house, she does everything for me, and she’s the world’s greatest mom,” said Skyler Smith.

As Mother’s Day approaches, families in Lima celebrated their moms one flower at a time.
