LIMA, Oh (WLIO) — The Lima/Allen County Chamber’s Women-Owned Business Award recognizes women business leaders who have found a path to success while also taking time to give back.

Michelle Sterling and Sign Pro share their marketing knowledge to help others succeed with their projects and events. Sterling bought the company in 1999 and has helped it grow into a one-stop shop for businesses, helping them with their marketing needs, logo designs and promotional items. They also have provided nearly $60,000 in products to nonprofit and school organizations over the past five years.

Tonya Gendreau founded Modish Maven Boutique less than two years ago to provide trendy, high-quality fashion for women. With both a brick-and-mortar storefront and online sales, they have developed a well-rounded approach to reach every customer they can. Through their success, Modish Maven continues to be deeply committed to giving back to help the Lima community and organizations.

Patricia Langhals has been the owner of Colonial Surface Solutions since 2018, after she and her late husband, Darren, took over the longtime company from his aunt and uncle. The former stay-at-home mom overcame a steep learning curve to master the business, which specializes in painting and powder coating. Over the years, they have increased their powder coating process and added a second shift to help meet demand. Colonial has completed projects for the Putnam County Fairgrounds and Columbus Grove’s new fire station as a way to give back. They are considering another expansion to help meet the needs of their military customers.

Those are the finalists for the Women-Owned Business Award. The winner will be announced at the Chamber Gala on May 8th.
