LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Classic cars, customized trucks and motorcycles rolled into Faurot Park on Saturday as community members gathered to honor local veterans during the annual Veterans Appreciation Car Cruise-in.
Dozens of vehicles were on display during the free event, giving car and truck enthusiasts the opportunity to showcase their rides while supporting those who have served in the U.S. military.
Donations collected during the cruise-in benefited the Veterans Food Pantry. The event was sponsored by Chiles-Laman Funeral Home and served as both a celebration of automotive enthusiasts and a tribute to the service and sacrifices made by veterans.
“It's wonderful to have as many people come out today. It's actually a beautiful day. We're honoring the veterans for all that they've done for us to make our country free and be able to celebrate days like today. Oh, it's an honor for us to be able to do that. Without their service, we wouldn't have the freedoms that we have today. So, we're just so grateful that we live in a nation like we have," says Bob Laman, Chiles-Laman Funeral Home.
Organizers presented 26 awards during the event, including Best in Show and Most Unique Vehicle. A special plaque was also awarded to the oldest veteran who attended the cruise-in.
