LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima residents came out Tuesday evening to learn more about one of the candidates running for the Lima City School Board in the November election.
Candidate Heather Rutz took to the podium, presenting her goals and vision for Lima City Schools. She is campaigning to fill one of two open seats on the board. Rutz also talked about her decision to put her name on the ballot, citing two key areas of motivation.

"Our son is a, he's now a junior at Lima Senior, but, you know, he's been a student his entire, if you want to call it, career for Lima City Schools. We wanted to give back to the school district that's done so much for us and been so supportive of us, but I really think there's going to be a lot of challenges for public education coming in the next few years. A lot of that has to do with funding from the state. That's a large motivator for why I'm running is to just make sure that there's folks on the board who can be responsive to those things," says Heather Rutz, Lima City School Board Candidate.
Cindy Brownlow and Sandy Monfort will also run for one of the two open board seats.
