LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Leaving an abusive relationship doesn’t always mean the abuse ends—especially during child exchanges between parents. To help reduce conflict and promote safety, Crossroads Crisis Center has opened a Safe Exchange office to provide a neutral environment during parental handoffs.

The new office aims to protect children from witnessing arguments or tension during these exchanges by serving as a third-party, impartial location.

“This is for anybody who feels like their safety is at risk during child exchange, or that there's verbal altercations happening, or anything that's really traumatic. They can give us a call and talk to us about that,” said Christel Keller, Executive Director of Crossroads Crisis Center.

“Safe exchange means a lot to everybody here at Crossroads. We're really excited to bring this important service to the community. In order to get started, please give us a call. Our phone number is 419-228-4357, ask to speak with a staff member about Safe Exchange, and we'll get you all set up,” said Alexis Butler, Court and Safe Exchange director.

Crossroads said they are thrilled to offer this service to people who are victims of separation abuse.
