Early morning attic insulation fire contained with mutual aid response

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Mutual aid was called for an attic fire Saturday morning. 

Around 4 in the morning, American Township Fire Department was dispatched at 1740 Homeward Avenue for smoke in the attic. Upon arrival, they determined the insulation was on fire. An insulation vacuum was used to remove insulation, which took many hours. Mutual aid from Lima Fire Department was then contacted. There was no fire damage to any living areas of the house, as well as no reported injuries. Crews cleared the scene at 8:15 am. The American Red Cross and Swartz Restoration are now assisting the homeowner. Details of the cause and damage estimate to follow as this is an ongoing investigation.
