Jeffrey Givan has filed to run on the Democratic ticket for the 78th District state representative seat, which is currently held by Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman.
Givan said Huffman has run unopposed for too long and that his time in office has upset many people, particularly on issues involving education and civil rights. Givan said he believes a change is coming and that there is a major battle ahead to address issues affecting the state.
“Not going to go backwards. That's what's going to happen. So I'm going to do everything in my power to protect our civil rights and to get our education system working better. I'm civically minded. I am somewhat disabled, and I want to be fighting for SNAP benefits and all that. I also do a lot of work in the garden community here,” says Jeffrey Givan (Given), filed to run as a Democrat for 78th State Representative Seat.
Huffman has already filed his petition for re-election. If no other candidates file, the two will face off in the November general election.
